Day Rehabilitation Program:
This program combines land and aquatic physiotherapy over a three (3) hour session for a variety of orthopaedic, spinal conditions and deconditioning following illness or hospitalisation.
After an initial assessment by all members of the Day Rehabilitation team (Medical, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy), goals of treatment are determined. The aim of the treatment is to achieve these goals over the course of the program.
On most occasions the cost of the Day Rehabilitation Program is fully covered by Private Health Insurance or Department Of Veteran Affairs (DVA). Patients can have extensive, highly skilled rehabilitation at no cost to themselves.
This program offers physiotherapy and occupational therapy to improve balance, strength and general condition.
An initial assessment is undertaken prior to the commencement of the program. The Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist work with the patient to develop specific goals. During these sessions the patient works with all members of our Outpatient Rehabilitation team including Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Dietician and Pharmacist to achieve goals and education on falls prevention and increase mobility.
Information sessions are held by the Occupational Therapist, Dietician and Pharmacist to educate patients on reducing the risk of falls in the home and community, correct nutrition to improve general condition and how some medication may increase the risk of fall and decrease mobility.
On most occasions the cost of the program is fully covered by Private Health Insurance or DVA. Patients can have extensive reconditioning rehabilitation at no cost to them.
Aquatic Physiotherapy Program
These are specialised aquatic sessions conducted by a Physiotherapist. Conditions appropriate for these sessions include arethritis, chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions. The program incorporates a pre-program assessment to determine therapeutic goals and physiotherapy supervised aquatic sessions of approximately 45 minutes.
Wellness Aquatic Program
Includes gentle excercise, arthritis and maintenance programs supervised by a hydrotherapy specialist.
The Outpatient gym is a well equipped, air conditioned physiotherapy treatment area with ramp access to the pool.
The Hydrotherapy pool has been designed with both ramp and stair access and is a comfortable 33 C. We also have hoist access for less mobile patients. A nurse is on site at all times for wound management, if required.
Our Hydrotherapy unit has its own designated free car parking area with easy access from President Avenue. This parking facility is a short easy walk to the pool and outpatient gym.
